Which is better - Custom Made or RTW (Ready to Wear) Clothes?

Nowadays, most people buy clothes off the rack.  It is easier to buy clothes from the department store/tiange/divisoria where you can see and buy outright. To check if the clothes fit, the buyer has an option to try the clothes at the store or at home. It is cheaper and the fitting of the clothes can be seen immediately. It is better this way.  Or is it?

There are times when you will be attending an event and would like to have a new dress or suit for you.  It is sometimes tiring to look around the mall and check out all the stalls for that pretty dress you like.  You have searched everywhere but none seem to fit and give you that look you like. In this case, a custom made dress is what you need.  You can simply tell the tailor/cutter the design that you want or ask him/her what he can recommend and browse their past designs or make a new one for you.  You can even choose the material. You can choose whether you want chiffon, silk, printed material...

Or-- You can shop around, either in the mall or in the internet (search for that dress without giving your feet those aches!:) ), then sketch or print what you like and bring the copy to the tailor! :) What's best with this is that it gives you the satisfaction of immediately seeing how your dress will look like and the fitting will follow your body size because it will be made just for you! :)

You can do this for casual clothes too like blouses, polo, pants... sometimes we see our favorite movie star wearing something we would want to wear ourselves... go to your tailor and have one made! Just bring the photo with you. :)

Of course, even I who grew up in a tailor shop often buy clothes from RTW, but having clothes made just for you gives you both a sense of accomplishment and a satisfaction.  Accomplishment from choosing the design/designing it yourself and the satisfaction of finally wearing what you have just imagined. :)

Be sure to find a good tailor though! :) Well, you have to give one a try, lest, you'll forever not have your own. :)
